Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Age UK Exeter. We are deeply grateful to all our volunteers for the incredible difference they make in the lives of older people across Exeter.

As one of our clients shared about their Volunteer Visitor "They make a big difference in my life for the better."

Another client told us their Time for You Volunteer "has given me an opportunity to be myself."

If you are interested in giving a little of your time to help older people in Exeter age positively, there are many different ways to get involved. Please see our current volunteering opportunities below.

Information and Advice Volunteer

Are you a great communicator who loves helping others? Join us as an I&A volunteer and be the first point of contact for older people seeking advice and support. You’ll help them understand their rights, access benefits, and make informed decisions about health, housing, and lifestyle.

Telephone Reviews

Are you a confident communicator who enjoys chatting on the phone? We’re looking for volunteers to call clients or their carers to review their experience of our service and confirm basic details. You’ll help us keep information accurate and flag any concerns to the team.

Volunteer Visiting Role

Are you a friendly, caring person who loves a good chat? Become a Volunteer Visitor and help reduce loneliness by befriending an older person in their own home. You’ll offer companionship, a listening ear, and social support - making a real difference in someone’s life. If you notice any concerns, you’ll report them to the service lead.

Handyperson Volunteer

Are you practical, friendly, and enjoy helping others? Join our Handyperson service and support people aged 50+ with general household and maintenance tasks. This flexible role runs Monday to Friday and can fit around your schedule.

International Volunteers

We want to make every effort to facilitate international volunteers and benefit hugely from their contribution to the charity. For more information on the DBS process and/or letters of recommendation, please see our welcome letter following the link.
