Social Wellbeing Volunteers

We are looking to recruit volunteers for our Social Wellbeing Groups across the Borough.

To provide a friendly, supportive environment to people over the age of sixty, encouraging social contact to help reduce isolation in the community.

Preparing light refreshments, assisting with various activities, occasionally (with the coordinator) accompany clients on trips and events that are outside of the clubs, ensuring group members are involved in individual/group discussion and/or activities, help in  the setting up of rooms for activities.

Volunteer Drivers also required to transport members to and from the centres.

Retail Shop Volunteers

Age UK Hillingdon have two retail shops based in Hayes and Ruislip, that raise valuable income to help us to continue to provide our services across the Borough.
We stock good quality items such as clothes, ornaments, DVDs, CD’s, books and much more. 

We are currently seeking to recruit volunteers for the following days:

Ruislip Shop - 105 Ruislip High Street, Ruislip HA4 8JN

Monday 9am - 1pm and 1pm-5pm

Wednesday 9am-1pm

Wednesday 1pm-5pm

Thursday 1pm-5pm

Friday 9am-1pm

Sunday 11am-1pm

Sunday 1pm-3.00pm 2 x volunteers required

The volunteers would help out in the shop by serving customers, helping with the window displays, sorting out the clothes and bric a brac donated to us and steaming the garments.

Full training will be given and expenses reimbursed.  We do require that you would be able to commit to this arrangement for a minimum of six months.

Home from Hospital Volunteer

We are looking to recruit 4 volunteers for our Home from Hospital Service, who could commit to 1-2 days a week for 2-3 hours to offer quality time, company and confidence building.

Our Home From Hospital service provides support to our clients who have recently been discharged from Hospital. The volunteers would be required to offer practical support for up to six weeks after discharge in the clients home.

Tasks may include checking the client has enough food and drink in their home following discharge, checking there is adequate heating in the property. Helping the client to regain their confidence and supporting them to achieve or maintain their independence.  To accompany clients on visits e.g. hospital visits, shopping or maybe attending a lunch club for the first time.

Training and support will be provided.

Volunteer Gardener Townfield Community Centre

If you love gardening, we are looking for a volunteer to help maintain our garden at Townfield Community Centre.
Use your gardening know how to help with new planting, weeding and clearing overgrown areas.  We have some raised flower beds standing idle, which would be perfect for growing vegetables or new plants.
This role will suit you if you enjoy being outside in all weathers.
Training and support will be provided.

Our Townfield Community centre is based at Townfield Road, Hayes UB3 2EL.

Reception/Administration Volunteer

We are looking to recruit  Reception/Admin volunteers for our Information and Advice Team at our Head Office in Hayes. 

The shifts are:

Tuesday am 9.30-1pm

Friday am 9.30-1pm


The role will be the first point of contact for our Head Office.  You will be welcoming visitors and taking telephone calls transferring them to the right department or taking messages. Open incoming/frank outgoing post and assisting with mail outs to all our members and volunteers, scanning and inputting data on to our database and sending out letters and general office duties.

The successful application must be willing to answer the telephone, be computer literate and have a good standard of written and spoken English.
Training and support will be provided.

Information and Advice Volunteer - Uxbridge

We are looking to recruit volunteers for our Uxbridge Information and Advice centre on a Thursday from 1.00pm - 4.00pm and a Friday from 10.00am-1.00pm .

To assist callers, by either giving advice or sign posting, to the office either in person or by phone regarding a variety of enquiries, Money matters, Housing, Transport–Blue Badge, Taxi card & Dial A Ride, Leisure and social activities, Family and personal matters, rights and local services.

You will be joining a team of existing volunteers who cover the service, volunteers would occasionally be asked to work flexibly by covering other volunteer’s days.

Our Uxbridge Information shop is based at 63a High Street, Uxbridge, UB8 1JP.

Full training will be given and expenses reimbursed.  We do require that you would be able to commit to this arrangement for a minimum of twelve months.

Information and Advice Solicitor Support Volunteer

We are looking to recruit 1 or 2 volunteers to help with our Will Writing Service based in our Uxbridge and Rusilip I&A Centres.

The sessions are :

Ruislip are held every 4th Thursday 1:00pm – 4:30pm at 105 High Street, Ruilsip HA4 8JN

Uxbridge are held alternate Thursdays 1:00pm – 4:30pm at 63a High Street, Uxbridge UB8 1JP

The volunteer/s will provide support to the solicitor at Ruislip and Uxbridge information Centres.

  • Meet clients as they attend the office for their pre-arranged appointment.
  • Photocopy any identification documents the client has brought with them.
  • Arrange the follow up will signing appointment and record using manual and electronic systems.
  • Witness the signing of the Will in the presence of the client and solicitor.
  • Ensure any donations are recorded and, if appropriate, the gift aid form has been completed.

We are happy to take on one volunteer who is happy to cover both centres.
Full training will be given and expenses reimbursed.  We do require that you would be able to commit to this arrangement for a minimum of twelve months.

Welfare Benefits Volunteers

We are looking to recruit volunteers for our Welfare Benefits Service. To help assist clients age 60+ maximise their income through a variety of Government, and or Local Authority based Welfare Benefits.

You would be visiting clients in their homes, providing Benefit Advice, help complete relevant benefit application forms, signpost/refer to other agencies or services.  

Full training will be given and expenses reimbursed.  We would appreciate any time commitment. However, a regular commitment of 4 hours a week for a minimum of twelve months would be ideal.
