Social Wellbeing Volunteers

We are looking to recruit volunteers for our Social Wellbeing Groups across the Borough.

To provide a friendly, supportive environment to people over the age of sixty, encouraging social contact to help reduce isolation in the community.

Preparing light refreshments, assisting with various activities, occasionally (with the coordinator) accompany clients on trips and events that are outside of the clubs, ensuring group members are involved in individual/group discussion and/or activities, help in  the setting up of rooms for activities.

Volunteer Drivers also required to transport members to and from the centres.

Befriending Services Volunteer

We are currently looking for Befriending volunteers, in particular for our Good Neighbour service who have weekday availability.

Befriending Services provide a regular supportive service to people aged 65+ who are lonely and isolated, and takes place in their own homes. The service aims to improve their quality of life and wellbeing and enables them to maintain their independence.

Our Good Neighbour service helps to provide practical support in people’s homes.

No formal experience needed, as all necessary training will be given.

Townfield Administrator

To provide general admin support to the social well-being services department based at Townfield community centre, including answering the phone, updating the database, dealing with post, stationary orders, filing, scanning & photocopying.

We would appreciate any time commitment. However, a regular commitment of at least 5 hours a week for at least 3 months would be ideal.

Training will be provided.

Retail Shop Volunteers

Age UK Hillingdon have two retail shops based in Hayes and Ruislip, that raise valuable income to help us to continue to provide our services across the Borough.
We stock good quality items such as clothes, ornaments, DVDs, CD’s, books and much more. 

We are currently seeking to recruit volunteers for the following days:

Ruislip Shop - 105 Ruislip High Street, Ruislip HA4 8JN

Monday 1pm-5pm

Tuesday 9am-1pm

Saturday 9am-1pm

The volunteers would help out in the shop by serving customers, helping with the window displays, sorting out the clothes and bric a brac donated to us and steaming the garments.

Full training will be given and expenses reimbursed.  We do require that you would be able to commit to this arrangement for a minimum of six months.

Home from Hospital Volunteer

We are looking to recruit 2-4 volunteers for our Home from Hospital Service, who could commit to 1-2 days a week for 2-3 hours to offer quality time, company and confidence building.

Our Home From Hospital service provides support to our clients who have recently been discharged from Hospital. The volunteers would be required to offer practical support for up to six weeks after discharge in the clients home.

Tasks may include checking the client has enough food and drink in their home following discharge, checking there is adequate heating in the property. Helping the client to regain their confidence and supporting them to achieve or maintain their independence.  To accompany clients on visits e.g. hospital visits, shopping or maybe attending a lunch club for the first time.

Training and support will be provided.

Volunteer Gardener Townfield Community Centre

If you love gardening, we are looking for a volunteer to help maintain our garden at Townfield Community Centre.
Use your gardening know how to help with new planting, weeding and clearing overgrown areas.  We have some raised flower beds standing idle, which would be perfect for growing vegetables or new plants.
This role will suit you if you enjoy being outside in all weathers.
Training and support will be provided.

Our Townfield Community centre is based at Townfield Road, Hayes UB3 2EL.

Information and Advice Volunteer

We are looking for a Volunteer  to join our Information & Advice team at Uxbridge on a Wednesday 10 – 1pm. To provide information and advice to older people and their carers by telephone, e-mail or to personal callers at our Information Centre in Uxbridge. Full training will be given and expenses reimbursed.  We do require that you would be able to commit to this arrangement for a minimum of six months.
