If you’re finding it harder to manage day-to-day tasks at home, our Help at Home service in Hillingdon and Harrow is here to support you. Whether it’s cleaning, shopping, or just having someone to talk to, we offer reliable, flexible support - helping you stay independent, safe and comfortable in your own home.

What is Help at Home?

Our trained Home Helpers offer non-clinical, domestic support for people 50+. We’ll visit you, talk through what you need, and agree on a plan that works for you.

You can choose the frequency of visits - whether that’s weekly, fortnightly, or even just once in a while.

● Laundry and changing bedding
● Prescription or dry cleaning collection
● Shopping (with you or on your behalf)
● Help with paperwork
● Preparing light meals
● Escorting you to appointments

Pricing and availability

● £28 per hour (minimum of 1.5 hours per week) - Price will increase to £30 per hour from 1st April 2026.
● £28 one-off fee for an initial assessment visit - Price will increase to £30 from 1st April 2026.
● Payment via Direct Debit to keep costs low
● Service area: for adults 50+ in Hillingdon and Harrow

How to find help at home
Finding help at home is simple and doesn’t require a referral. You can contact Age UK Hillingdon, Harrow & Brent directly to talk through your needs and arrange an initial assessment visit. We’ll take the time to understand what support would work best for you or your loved one, agree a flexible plan, and match you with a Home Helper.
Visits are available Monday to Friday, 9am–4pm, and can be arranged weekly, fortnightly, or as needed.

Which household chores can a home helper do?
A Home Helper can assist with a wide range of everyday household tasks, including:
• Cleaning, tidying and decluttering
• Laundry and changing bedding
• Shopping (with you or on your behalf)
• Collecting prescriptions or dry cleaning
• Preparing light meals
• Help with paperwork
• Escorting you to appointments
• Social contact and companionship
