Homeshare is a simple idea with life-changing potential.
It brings together an older person with a spare room and someone looking for affordable accommodation. In return for a place to stay, the Sharer offers companionship and 10 hours of help each week. Homeshare creates meaningful relationships that support companionship for older adults while enabling independence and peace of mind.
We’ve partnered with Two Generations to make homeshare available across Hillingdon, Harrow and Brent, reducing isolation, supporting independence, and building lasting intergenerational connections that offer genuine friendship for seniors as well as companionship and support at home.
What is Homeshare?
Homeshare matches a Householder (typically an older person aged 50+) with a Sharer who offers light practical help and friendly companionship in exchange for a room in their home. Each homeshare arrangement is carefully matched based on personal preferences, routines and lifestyles.
This is not a care service. Homeshare is about shared living, mutual respect, and practical support, creating companionship for older adults and meaningful friendship for seniors through connection, conversation and presence.
How Homeshare works
The type of support varies and is agreed together during the matching process. This may include:

● Cooking or sharing meals
● Shopping or gardening
● Help with computers, phones or technology
● Social time, conversation and shared activities
● Reassurance from having someone else at home
