Age UK Harrow’s Advocacy Service offers independent support to vulnerable older people aged 60 + living in the Borough of Harrow. We provide advocacy support to help you say what you want, secure your rights, represent your interests and obtain the services you need.
Advocates do not:
- represent you in a legal capacity
- interfere with your finances
Our Advocates are completely independent and have no involvement in the provision of health or social care services.
Age UK Harrow provides advocacy under the Harrow Independent Care Act Advocacy Service. Under the Care Act 2014 we can provide an independent advocate so that you are supported and fully involved in the decisions about your care and support.
You may be able to access this service if:
- you need or are undergoing changes to your care and support package
- and you have difficulty understanding this process
- and you do not have an appropriate person to support you in this process.
In such cases an independent advocate can be appointed to help you through this process and support you to say what you want, understand your options, secure your rights and represent your interests. The service is free, confidential and completely independent from the local authority, social services and health care services.
