Two Motions made in one day at London Assembly

Published on 12 September 2022 10:01 AM

Age UK London is very pleased that a motion was passed unanimously by London Assembly Members in support of the recommendations contained in a report jointly produced with Transport for All in July. The recommendations on improvements to the Dial-a-Ride service in London can be read  here: Dial-a-Ride Report: From Door to More.

At a plenary session on 8 September 2022 the London Assembly supported the recommendations set out in the report and has called on the Mayor and TfL to adopt them.

Details about the motion on the Dial-a-Ride service are outlined in a press release issued by London Assembly. Improvements to Dial-a-Ride must be made

Abigail Wood, CEO of Age UK London said: “The passing of this motion at the London Assembly is an important acknowledgement of the hard work that has gone into the research and production of the report by all parties involved, especially Dial-a-Ride members.

“We look forward to seeing improvements to the Dial-a-Ride service by TfL and we are pleased that London Assembly members have scrutinised and decided to back our calls for action.”

Age UK London is grateful to Emma Best AM for proposing the motion and Caroline Pidgeon AM for seconding. You can watch the London Assembly debate here (scroll to 5:40:40 for the Dial-a-Ride motion debate).

On the same day the London Assembly also unanimously passed a motion calling on the Mayor and the Commissioner for TfL to commit to providing public toilets at all new stations. Assembly members quoted the recently published Age UK London report the London Loos Paper outlining data gathered from research carried out with Londoners from May to July this year where 81 percent of respondents said that provision was bad in their local borough.
