The Health and Wellbeing team provide a county wide service with a strong focus on delivering exercise classes to suit all levels and abilities.
We provide activities to help support older adults who have low levels of function capacity, or existing disease and disability. In addition to this, we provide classes to help maintain older people's fitness levels through a series of community classes throughout Northumberland.
Age UK Northumberland is also contracted to provide Falls Prevention classes for anyone who has had a fall, has balance problems and are at risk from falling. The sessions provide a mix of seated and standing exercises focussing on strength, balance, co-ordination and confidence.
The Health and Wellbeing Programme is led by Anne Robinson, the Health and Wellbeing Manager. Anne has worked to improve the health of older people for over 20 years and has experience in: working with people with Long Term Conditions. Anne has also delivered Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Cardiac Rehabilitation. All of the community exercise classes are ran by fully trained staff and volunteers.
