Day 6 – The Difference We Made
We support around 40,000 older and vulnerable people locally, helping them access vital services and benefits.
Our signposting service handled 16,229 phone calls, 5,379 emails, and supported 400 people through our drop-in sessions. We also referred 166 people to free legal and financial clinics provided by our partners - ensuring they receive the advice and support they need.
We check that anyone of pensionable age in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, along with their families and carers, is receiving all the benefits they’re entitled to and assist with completing claim forms. Common benefits include:
- Attendance Allowance
- Housing Benefit & Council Tax Reduction
- Carer’s Allowance
- Pension Credit
We also help people apply for grants and trusts.

“[The workers were] very thorough with the advice and very caring. It’s given me a bit of hope as I’m struggling financially.”

Case Study – Mrs M
Mrs M, in her 70s and living alone, contacted us for help with Household Support Fund vouchers due to rising living costs. During our conversation, she shared concerns about a long-standing family legacy issue causing stress and anxiety. We referred her to a partner legal practice for a free 30-minute consultation, which gave her clarity and hope for a resolution.
“They treated me like an intelligent person and listened to me. It was nice - people don’t take much notice of older people nowadays.”
