Getting started with walking
So you're considering joining a walking group: what do you need to know and where can you find a group?

Walking is a brilliant activity to keep you fit and active. Walking has many benefits that not everyone is aware of, such as reducing your risk of type-2 diabetes and certain cancers. Walking is also good for your mental health, it can even help relieve depression, and keeping fit can reduce your risk of developing dementia.
If that isn't convincing enough, a participant in Age UK Notts' Best Foot Forward walks, comments:
“I feel that walking has made me feel much fitter. It lifts my moods because I suffer [from] depression, I enjoy the company of the other walkers and [the] walk leaders.”
