The very best carers in Oxfordshire have been celebrated at an awards ceremony on Monday (24 April) bringing together unpaid carers, the community and voluntary sector, and statutory and independent care providers.

Organised by Oxfordshire Association of Care Providers (OACP) and hosted in partnership with Action for Carers Oxfordshire and Age UK Oxfordshire, the Oxfordshire Care Awards were held on Monday (24 April) at the Voco Oxford Thames Hotel in Sandford-on-Thames under the tagline ‘inspiration for all’. Oxfordshire County Council co-sponsored the event.

Eddy McDowall, CEO of Oxfordshire Association of Care Providers, said: “It’s always a privilege to be involved in the Oxfordshire Care Awards. Our awards give the whole community a chance to pause, reflect and thank the hard working people in our industry, celebrating those moments where people go above and beyond what’s expected.”

Penny Thewlis, CEO of Age UK Oxfordshire, said: “The care awards are always a complete delight from beginning to end! I can’t think of anything more important than providing care and support to enable people to live life with dignity and some joy. The awards celebrate the amazing people who are doing this every day and whose praises are very rarely sung publicly. They should be.”

Kay Francis, Head of Carer Services at Action for Carers Oxfordshire, said: “We had such a wonderful afternoon celebrating the fantastic care provided by wonderful people in Oxfordshire.
