Dementia Action Week 2025

Dementia Action Week is fast approaching. This year is taking place from 19 to 25 of May. This is an opportunity to raise awareness about the condition, have conversations about dementia and get up to date with what’s happening in the borough too.

Dementia Friendly Communities Richmond (DFCR), a Richmond Council initiative coordinated by Age UK Richmond, will be especially active on Tuesday 20 May raising awareness and providing information to the community at this free to attend "Pop-up Dementia Information Day" event at Patch, Twickenham, 42 York St, TW1 3LJ.

Pop-up Information Dementia Day, Tuesday 20 May, 10.30am to 2pm

  • Pop in for tea, cake and a chat with us
  • Learn about the condition and how best to support someone with dementia
  • Hear about the work of Dementia Friendly Communities Richmond
  • Tell us what you want from a dementia inclusive borough
  • Talk to Richmond Community Dementia Service and dementia advisors from Alzheimer's Society

Schedule of the day so you can plan your pop-in visit:

10.30am: Introduction from Age UK Richmond and Dementia Friendly Communities Richmond

10.45am: Talk by Kingston & Richmond NHS Trust, Richmond Community Dementia Service

11.15am: Brighter Together with local nursery children will demonstrate their intergenerational work, join them!

11.45am: Dementia Friends Information Session, delivered by Alzheimer's Society Ambassador

12.30pm: Sara Wilcox, CEO, Pathways through Dementia - How to set up your Lasting Power of Attorney

1pm: Chat with Age UK Richmond's Money & Benefits Advice team

1.30pm: Making Richmond more dementia friendly: A discussion with dementia professionals, admiral nursers, solicitors and care providers.
