Kew the Run and Richmond RUNFEST 2025
Support the Age UK Richmond Running Team and Help Them Raise £4,500!
This September, an incredible team of 14 dedicated runners will be taking on the Richmond RunFest – tackling either the Marathon, Half Marathon or 10k challenge – all in support of Age UK Richmond. Each runner has their own inspiring story, and together they are raising vital funds to help improve the lives of local older people.
How Your Support Makes a Difference
Thanks to the kindness and generosity of people like you, we’re able to continue our essential work across the borough. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us to reach older people who need us the most.
In Richmond upon Thames, many older residents face daily challenges – from loneliness and isolation to financial hardship, declining health, and reduced mobility. Your support ensures that we can continue to be there for them, offering companionship, advice, practical help, and a friendly face when it’s needed most.
Meet Our Amazing Team of Runners:
Ian, Laura & Niall from eBay
Our corporate partner, eBay, is proudly supporting three of their team members – Ian, Laura, and Niall – as they take on the running challenge. eBay has committed to match-funding their fundraising efforts up to £150 each.
Thank you, eBay, for your generous support!

My name is Ian and I work for eBay. We partner with Age UK Richmond and I was lucky enough to support at one of the Christmas parties a few years ago. It was so enjoyable, and the experience emphasised the importance of the charity to the community. When the opportunity came up to help support via running (which I do anyway!) I thought it would be a great way to help support the charity and make sure people keep having wonderful experiences with Age UK Richmond!

This is my first ever half marathon and I’m excited to run it. I had knee surgery a few years ago and have had a slow recovery getting into shape again.
The reason I chose Age UK Richmond as my charity of choice for fundraising is that I’m working with software helping aged residents at their most vulnerable at Person Centred Software. Through my work in the sector, I have come to understand the need for help, also where our care software doesn’t apply. Age UK Richmond is delivering that type of help and I’m proud to fundraise for them.

I am running my first ever marathon for Age UK Richmond because my mum Mary used to run one of their initiatives, Man with a Pan. Through teaching older men to cook she was giving a sense of community to people who might otherwise spend their days alone. I chose to run in support of an independent charity, and I am passionate about the work Age UK Richmond does to promote happiness and independence in later life.
I’d love your help in keeping this kind of work going, so please donate and make it worth the pain!!

Richmond will be my 13th marathon, after a period of nearly a decade since my last marathon. Having been inspired by watching this year’s London marathon, I decided it was time to dust off the running shoes and sign up for the Richmond marathon. My two sons (4 and 8 years old) have never seen me run a marathon so I look forward to seeing them cheering me on.
I’ve lived in Putney since 2013 and have spent a lot of time running around Richmond Park and along the Thames, so decided to support Age UK Richmond as a local charity.
Training is going well so far and the current target for the Richmond marathon is 2hrs 50mins.

I am running Richmond Marathon this year to raise awareness and funding for Age UK Richmond.
Having previously worked at Age UK for over 5 years, I know the invaluable support that the charity brings to local areas like Richmond. Their services focused on loneliness, fuel and food poverty, financial wellbeing and care, are increasingly stretched and underfunded. Income from fundraising is vital to keeping these going.
I will do my best to represent Age UK Richmond by having its logo on a vest somewhere near the front of the race. If you would like to donate for this worthy cause, you can on my Justgiving page.

Hey everyone! I’m running the Richmond 10K in September to raise money for Age UK Richmond, a fantastic organisation that truly makes a difference in the lives of older people. Age UK Richmond is dedicated to making sure every older person feels included and valued—whether through providing free advice and information, tackling loneliness and isolation, or campaigning for their rights.
My 86-year-old nan gets a lot from her local Age UK centre—she attends weekly social groups, craft sessions, cinema afternoons, musical events, and uses visiting services like chiropody. These experiences help her stay connected, active, and happy, and have significantly boosted her health and wellbeing through fun physical, social, and mental activities.
Your support will help Age UK Richmond continue offering these vital social opportunities for older people like my nan. Thanks so much for your generosity!

In May 2025, my grandad passed away from Dementia. Leaving behind my grandma, his beloved wife and partner of over 60 years. With this in mind, I would like to give back to the older generation through the Charity Age UK Richmond.
During the last year I have moved from my hometown in Yorkshire down south to London, unfortunately meaning that I cannot help my grandma during this difficult period in her life as much as I would like to.
Age UK Richmond provides support for the older community that are in my grandmas position though wellbeing & social activities, telephone friendship & community connections and information & advice. With this in mind, I would like to raise money to help people just like my grandma, striving to ensure the older generation feel supported and loved by their families and communities.

Sadly, and suddenly this year, I lost my Nan to dementia and my Grandma to cancer. They received amazing support from carers and local charities which inspired me to raise money for a local charity.
Therefore, I am running the Richmond RunFest Marathon in September and supporting Age UK Richmond. They are a local independent charity offering care and support to local older people; while they also provide a wide range of services to promote happiness and independence in later life. They are always there to support anyone over the age of 55 living in Richmond upon Thames.
Please donate to my campaign and help me achieve my target in honour of my late Nan and Grandma, remembering their lives. They are both deeply missed and loved!

I am running the marathon in this year's Richmond RUNFEST on 14 September. My place in the race is a charity entry supporting Age UK Richmond, a local independent charity offering vital help and support to local older people; they provide a wide range of services to people in later life. They define this as "anyone over the age of 55", which I have to admit now includes me... Anyway, please donate to my campaign and support this worthy cause.
This photo is of me earlier this year, visiting our friend/my running coach, Chris Weiss, in Munich. Chris specialises in peak performance training for international level runners, cyclists and triathletes. After my husband Bart got fed up with me doing random long runs over random distances, he asked Chris to help me train properly. Under Chris's expert tuition, my goal for this marathon is 3:15. I got 3:54 in Paris 18 months ago (that's the other photo) so hopefully it all works out ok on the day!

I chose to run for Age UK Richmond because as we get older we need help and support, life can always be challenging and we shouldn’t face it alone.
