Day Care is provided from the Humphrey Booth Centre in Langworthy.
For some people, coming to the Centre is arranged through Salford Council's Adult Social Care Services, but more and more people are coming to us directly as social members to benefit from our warm and welcoming environment.
The Day Centre offers
- The ability to respond to individual needs and provide additional support
- A range of theme days, entertainment programmes, excursions and activities are provided regularly
- Support with personal care needs including an on-site hairdresser and chiropodist
- Regular weekend events include a Saturday Brunch
The Day Centre supports people to manage their health and care needs and has an active social membership. The purpose built centre offers a stimulating and enjoyable activity programme, social and cognitive stimulation, meals and refreshments and an opportunity to enjoy the company of others
Opening times: Monday to Saturday, 9.00am - 4.00pm
We plan ahead for developmental work in response to the Personalisation Agenda and Council’s efficiency savings. We also develop the weekend events programme.
Making a difference
Mr X was referred by the social work team to attend one day a week. This was to provide social and cognitive stimulation for him and respite for his wife who was his main carer.
Due to the impact of the caring role provided by Mrs X, their relationship was beginning to suffer. Day care enabled Mr and Mrs X to engage in separate activities and form their own friendships.
Having the day centre as part of their support network gave additional emotional support to Mrs X. She was able to phone staff and ask for advice on areas that she was unsure of, provided reassurance that Mr X was fine and that she was able to enjoy her time with friends without feeling guilty.
With the day centre support their relationship is enhanced and Mr and Mrs X were supported through some challenging times.
