Bright future for specialist day services in Wandsworth

Published on 19 August 2021 08:52 AM

Age UK Wandsworth has been awarded the contract by Wandsworth Council to offer specialist day services from the Gwynneth Morgan Centre at East Hill in Wandsworth. The services will include support and activities at the purpose-built day centre, community-based outreach work, plus digital assistive services to support independence at home.

The services will be for adults with assessed eligible needs and will aim to maximise independence by offering social contact, stimulating activities, digital connectedness, and person-focused low-level care.

Natalie de Silva, Chief Executive of Age UK Wandsworth said, “The Gwynneth Morgan Centre and the associated additional services will be key to us realising our vision to help older people age well in Wandsworth. It will allow us to support some of the most vulnerable adults and older people in Wandsworth and provide a physical hub for our wide range of community-based services and activities”.

“We are delighted to be working with Wandsworth Council on this new service provision. We have a shared commitment to deliver high-quality innovative services that enable greater independence and also provide support and relief for families and carers”.

Age UK Wandsworth will be operating the day services and new outreach and digital assistive services from October 2021.

Age UK Wandsworth will continue to offer all its existing community-based preventative support services, which will complement the centre-based activities and programmes.
