Age UK Westminster is thrilled to have been awarded funding from the Digital Inclusion Innovation Fund, delivered by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), to launch Digital Together—a groundbreaking new project aimed at reducing digital exclusion and improving digital confidence among older residents in Westminster.
Running until March 2026, Digital Together will provide older people—particularly those from Global Majority communities—with tailored, culturally sensitive digital support and opportunities to build confidence with both everyday technology and emerging AI tools.
With many older Westminster residents living alone, managing long-term health conditions, or facing language and cultural barriers to support, digital exclusion continues to deepen inequalities. Digital Together directly tackles these issues by offering accessible, flexible and person-centred support.
The project provides:
- 1:1 tailored support and home visits for housebound and vulnerable residents.
- Multilingual help for Global Majority communities
- Drop-in sessions and workshops held in community venues.
- Device loans from our Digital and AI Tech Library to ensure access for those without.
- AI demonstrations and training on devices such as Ring Doorbells, smart speakers, and health monitoring watches, which can help older people live independently, safely, and with greater confidence.
Liz Tack, Head of Services at Age UK Westminster, said:
“Thanks to support from the Digital Inclusion Innovation Fund, we can help older residents—especially those facing the biggest barriers—gain the skills and confidence to use digital and AI tools that genuinely enhance safety, wellbeing, and independence. This project is about making technology work for everyone.”
By introducing older residents to AI technologies in a safe, supported environment—such as smart doorbells, voice assistants and digital health tools—Digital Together will help people stay independent for longer, reduce isolation, and improve access to essential services.
All learning from the project will be captured to create an evidence-based model that can be shared across Westminster and beyond.
