Age UK Bolton Launches New Digital Guide to Keep Bolton Moving

Age UK Bolton has launched a new digital guide, Exercise From Home, to help over 50s keep active at home through simple chair exercises.
The guide was produced in collaboration with local partners Bolton Council and Portfolio Design, who have worked alongside Age UK Bolton to create a resource which supports older adults in improving mobility, building strength, and reducing the risk of falls.
Niall Bradley, Head of Strength and Balance at Age UK Bolton, said: “As people live longer and the older population of Bolton increases, it’s more important than ever that older adults are supported to stay active - and stay safe - in the home and beyond.”
Bolton’s population is getting older, with population projections estimating that by 2030, the 65-75 age group is likely to see the largest increase, according to the Bolton Joint Strategic Needs Assessment.
The launch of Exercise From Home follows on the heels of the launch of Bolton’s Age Friendly Strategy in June. The Strategy lays out plans to create a borough where everyone can age well for generations to come, including key health and wellbeing objectives.
Leesa Hellings-Lamb, Public Health Specialist at Bolton Council, said: “We hope that the guide will help people across Bolton to keep moving at home, providing future generations with the strength, stability and confidence to get out and about.”
“A lot of hard work has gone into making Exercise From Home, so it’s great to see it come together in a clear, simple and easy-to-follow guide,” Leesa added.
The Exercise From Home Guide is available to download for free from the Exercise From Home website. For more information, please contact Age UK Bolton on 01204 382411.
