Age UK Camden Bids Farewell to Long-Standing Charity Boutique After 35 Years

Published on 24 December 2025 01:00 PM

Age UK Camden closed its much-loved 35-year charity boutique at Leather Lane EC1 on 23 December 2025.

The decision comes as significant changes in the local area have led to a decline in both donations and sales, making it no longer sustainable for the boutique to continue operating in its current location.

“I’m really going to miss the shop,” said Zoe Flewin, a weekly regular at the boutique. “It’s a fantastic place for getting bargains and the staff have been wonderful and extremely accommodating. I’ve found out about services that Age UK Camden offers at the shop, and they have been very useful for my elderly parents. This place is also a useful hub for people to meet up with their neighbours and share information. It’s a real shame the shop has to close.”

The charity boutique is not seeking any further donated goods, but warmly encourages supporters to visit the boutique before it closes to visit, shop the remaining stock and help give the shop a positive send-off. Every sale will directly support Age UK Camden’s vital work to help older residents in Camden stay active and connected.

“We are hugely grateful to all our donors, shoppers, staff and volunteers who have made this space so special over the years – but have had no choice other than taking this difficult decision to close,” said CEO Ross Diamond. “We are keen to find a new site in a busier part of the borough and are doing all we can to find somewhere suitable.”
