About Age Cymru West Glamorgan

We are a local charity providing a range of services to our clients, families and carers across the Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend area promoting wellbeing and helping people to age well and love life.

Role Description:

Patient, compassionate and organised you will provide invaluable 1-2-1 support to older people who need help claiming Attendance Allowance. Working as part of our Information and Advice Team you will visit clients in their homes, directly improving their lives.   

Hours: Minimum 4 hours a week
Location: Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Bridgend

What will I do?

  • Ensure people have the means to age well and love life.
  • Arrange appointments to visit clients at their home.
  • Compassionately document health problems and how this effects their everyday life.
  • Complete benefit forms by hand with a thorough eye for detail.
  • Identify challenges facing older people and help them access support.

 

What will I gain?

  • Expert, ongoing training and support in becoming an Information and Advice Volunteer.
  • Experience of working as part of a vibrant, enthusiastic team.

 

What skills do I need?

  • Empathy for and understanding of the issues that affect older people.
  • A firm belief that everyone should have access to the support they need to make informed decisions, have their rights upheld and to live well.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to work both without direct supervision and as part of a team.
  • Non-judgemental, professional and reliable with an awareness of the importance of confidentiality.
  • Good penmanship.
