Published on 31 May 2025 08:30 AM

We are delighted to announce that Age UK Enfield has been awarded a 9 -year contract from the London Borough of Enfield to lead a health and wellbeing programme for local residents.

UCAN Enfield – the Unified Community Assistance Network – is an exciting new collaborative, community-led initiative designed to enable Enfield residents to lead healthier, independent lives.

The programme — Supporting Independence through Inclusion and Early Intervention - will be delivered by a partnership of charities led by Age UK Enfield.

Joining Age UK Enfield are Mind Enfield and Barnet, One to One, Middlesex Association for the Blind, Wellbeing Connect, Bread n Butter and Cooking Champions. All bringing their wealth of specialisms, experience and knowledge.

UCAN focuses on health and wellbeing,  particularly for older adults, individuals with neurodiversity,  sensory loss mental health concerns and those at risk of developing long-term health conditions in the future.

It will support people through one-to-one support and goal setting, group activities, and a wide range of activities and resources related to healthy living, nutrition and exercise.

Commenting on the launch, Alison Carter Albert, Head of Prevention Services at Age UK Enfield and UCAN Lead said “This is an incredible opportunity to reach out to those most in need.  With the guiding message "You Can!", UCAN motivates residents to take charge of their health and well-being, building resilience through early intervention and accessible support.”

This approach is closely aligned with Enfield’s Public Health, Adult Social Care and NHS Better Health priorities, fostering an integration support network that reduces dependence on healthcare services by addressing needs early and holistically.  UCAN can actively contribute to Enfield’s goal of a healthier, more resilient community, ensuring that residents receive the right support to thrive independently and confidently.
