Age UK Hounslow's Befriending Service aims to alleviate loneliness and isolation, giving social support and companionship to vulnerable adults and carers by providing either Face-to-Face Befriending or Telephone Befriending.

This service involves Age UK Hounslow volunteers visiting elderly and/or vulnerable residents of Hounslow in their own homes, providing them with assistance for small tasks and much needed social engagement. Telephone Befriending is offered to those who do not wish to be visited in their own homes but communicated with on a regular basis. Both services are offered FREE to residents of the London Borough of Hounslow.

To be eligible for the service you must :

  • be aged 65+
  • be resident in the London Borough of Hounslow
  • be socially isolated or lonely, or
  • be isolated due to physical disability or health issues, or
  • be isolated as a result of being the main carer for a spouse or relative
  • have agreed to being referred and assessed for the service

Please note that Telephone Befriending is only available to landline telephones, NOT mobile phones.

The service is offered on a referral basis and the referral form can be found at the bottom of this page. We receive from Hospitals, GP’s, Health Professionals, Friends and Family members and self-referrals are also accepted.

WE RECEIVE NO FUNDING FOR THIS SERVICE.
