Casual Gardener - Zero Hours

About Us: Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland is more than a Charity; we are a lifeline to older people in our local communities. Part of our mission is to support older people in their everyday lives and help them to live independently.

We have an amazing number of job opportunities for gardeners to join our team, held in various locations around Leicester, Leicestershire, including Coalville, Shepshed, and areas covering LE4/LE5

This role is about more than just gardening — it’s about helping people continue to enjoy their gardens and outdoor spaces.

Duties include:

  • General garden maintenance (mowing, weeding, pruning, hedge trimming, watering)
  • Grass cutting
  • Keeping paths and outdoor areas clear and safe
  • Planting and seasonal tidy-ups
  • Removing green waste where required
  • Maintain equipment and report any issues
  • Carry out and assess jobs, providing clear and accurate timelines
  • Maintain accurate records having some IT knowledge

What we’re looking for:

  • Gardening experience (professional or personal)
  • Good knowledge of plants
  • Be patient, with a respectful, and trustworthy manner
  • Be reliable with excellent timekeeping skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Awareness of health and safety (e.g. avoiding trip hazards, safe tool use)
  • Car or van owner with a full clean driving license and the ability to gain business insurance.
