Ageing Well Without Children Re-Opens

Published on 28 October 2019 01:56 PM

After a brief hiatus, Ageing Well Without Children has re-launched, with the Prama Foundation taking up the mantle. Founded in 2014 by Kirsty Woodard, Ageing Well Without Children was set up to focus on the issues facing those ageing without children, whether by choice or through circumstance. Prama are committed to continue this work.

There are many circumstances why some one could be ageing without children. Maybe because they were unable to have children, their children predeceased them, they are estranged from their children, their children live far away or are in prison or their children require care themselves. While there are many organisations in the ageing sector, this issue, which already affects 1.2 million people in the UK over 65, had not previously been recognised.

Ageing Well Without Children are now looking to develop a peer-led network bringing together people ageing without children as a community, both locally and across the UK through: Working with local groups; building a private online community; organising events and workshops; and hosting bi-annual conferences.
