Age UK Northumberland joins forces with Museums Northumberland to launch Gardening Group for over 50s at Woodhorn Site

Age UK Northumberland is delighted to join forces with the team at Museums Northumberland to launch an over 50s gardening group in the beautiful grounds of Ashington-based Woodhorn Museum.

The group will launch on Wednesday 22 February and will take place every Wednesday from 10am till 12pm.  There is also a shout-out for eager volunteers who would like to get involved, whether that’s chatting with our group members or sharing their gardening expertise!

Amy Whyte, Chief Executive of Age UK Northumberland said:

“We would like to thank the Community Foundation Tyne and Wear and Northumberland and Newcastle Building Society for awarding a grant to help us buy the equipment needed to get up and running.  This is a very exciting project, which will bring together the outdoors, exercise and a darned good chat and a cuppa in a beautiful location. What could be better!”.

Rowan Brown, CEO at Museums Northumberland said:

“The local community is very much at the heart of Woodhorn Museum, so we are delighted to be welcoming the over 50's Gardening Group and look forward to developing our green spaces”.

Anybody interested in coming along to the group or volunteering their time can contact us on 01670 784800, send an email to info@ageuk-northumberland.org.uk or just drop by on Wednesday 22 February.  The more the merrier!
