George Square volunteers dig deep at Woodthorpe Grange Park for Age UK Notts

Published on 13 March 2018 04:21 PM

A collection of Lime, Oak and Beech trees were planted in sites across Woodthorpe Grange Park on 13th March as part of the continued Trees of Life campaign. George Square Financial Management pledged support to the 75th anniversary Trees of Life campaign by sponsoring 100 trees and in doing so improving the local environment and raising vital funds to help local older people throughout the county.

The rainy weather in the days prior proved to be helpful for planting and didn’t dampen the spirits of the enthusiastic volunteers with the sun shining throughout the activity. Volunteers were guided by Nottingham City Council’s Parks and Open Spaces team who provided the trees for planting and delivered a tutorial on tree planting.

George Goward, Managing Director of George Square Financial Management commented, “Age UK Notts do excellent work and provide an invaluable service for the people and communities in and around Nottingham. As a Nottingham-based business ourselves, we wanted to show our support and help them to make a difference in improving the lives of older people in the area. The Trees [of] Life campaign is a great way to give something back to the local community and it was a pleasure to be involved with the tree planting today. The team really got stuck in and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, especially as the sun decided to shine!”
