Story 12 : Volunteers keep shining

Published on 23 December 2022 10:00 AM

People of all ages and all walks of life volunteer for Age UK Nottingham & Nottinghamshire - and we couldn't do our vital work without them! Volunteers share their time, skills, experience, talents, enthusiasm, and energy to enable us to support local older people.  They tell us it’s a rewarding experience:

' I started volunteering for Age UK Notts as I had previously worked in the NHS and I was missing that caring, giving role very much. What I love about my role is the fact that I am able to support clients through what is often a challenging and disorientating time where we have often been able to improve their quality of life and mental and physical wellbeing. It is an absolute privilege to work alongside so many older people as they strive for the best quality of life possible

‘I feel honoured to be part of Age UK Notts and, it’s my pleasure to volunteer for them. The reason why I choose to volunteer for Age UK Notts is because I was raised with my grandmother to be strong and caring and loving towards others which is who I am today. My Grandmother passed away so I just thought the best thing l could do to remember her is to help elderly people. The second reason why I choose to volunteer is because people have been kind in my life helping me when I needed help so I thought the only thing I can give back to society is to volunteer.’

Thank you to all our amazing volunteers who have made such a difference to local older people this year – you’ve really made a difference.
