Age UK Notts’ reception at its Head Office, Bradbury House was designed and installed 15 years ago when Age UK Notts first moved in and has been in need of an upgrade for some time to suit the current needs of older people and those with dementia.

Around 100 new customers come through Age UK Notts’ door each week to find the help, advice, information and support they need to live healthy, happy and independent lives.  Apart from having welcoming and knowledgeable staff, it is important that Age UK Notts has a clear organised space and a wealth of information and services to help people quickly and efficiently.  In addition it also needs to be warm and welcoming for people with disability and dementia.

After securing some initial funding, Age UK Notts has been able to complete phase one of a reception re-design, which has included redecoration, new signage and wall displays, upgrades to heating, lighting and installing a modernised hearing loop system. The approximate value of the work done to date is £7,000.

Age UK Notts’ Service Manager, Sue Reynolds said, “Many thanks to Aviva and St James's Place Wealth Management for helping us get this exciting project underway. Our reception already looks so much brighter and more welcoming. I am sure that anyone coming into our reception will find it a better experience with far more attractive and well organised displays of information.  Our staff continue to be as warm welcoming and knowledgeable as ever.”

Age UK Notts now requires funding to complete the refurbishment. These include funding to:
• Redesign the layout to create two distinct zones, one for information/help and the other for waiting i.e. for an advice appointment or one of the many other activities that takes place at its Head Office
• Purchase and re-site a new reception desk that is less of a visual barrier, ergonomically designed, attractive and allows wheelchair users equal access to its reception staff on an equal basis with others
• Purchase more suitable, comfortable and attractive seating throughout
• Purchase a new streamlined television with a media server to provide lots of information on its services to older people and also to have the facility for several staff to upload information in real time.

If you are in Nottingham, why not pop in and take a look at Age UK Notts’ bright and beautiful new space.
