Celebrating International Day of Older People - 1st October 2025

Published on 19 September 2025 12:10 PM

Wednesday 1st October marks the UN International Day of Older People. This year’s UK theme, Building Belonging, highlights the vital role social connections play in enriching lives at every age.

We will be at Oxford’s Older People’s Day, hosted by the Oxford 50+ Network at Oxford Town Hall from 10:00am–3:00pm.

Come along to meet our team, along with our dementia service, Dementia Oxfordshire, and our sister charity, Carers Oxfordshire. We’ll be on hand to talk about the support and services we provide, answer your questions, and help you find the right information for your needs.

The day will also feature talks, activities, digital workshops, and the chance to connect with a wide range of local organisations.

Other events across Oxfordshire to mark the occasion include:

  • Bicester – Wednesday 24th September, 9:00am–1:00pm, Bicester East Community Centre: Junk journaling, blood pressure checks, walking football, craft sessions, and more. Download the flyer.

  • Kidlington – Thursday 2nd October, 9:00am–1:00pm, Exeter Hall: Arts and crafts, Total Tone 50+ exercise, ballroom dancing, health checks, and local information stands. Download the flyer.

  • Banbury – Wednesday 8th October, 9:00am–1:00pm, The Mill Arts Centre: Bollywood dancing, Tai Chi, yoga, reminiscence sessions, nature activities, arts and crafts, and blood pressure checks. Download the flyer.

The events offer a wonderful opportunity to try new activities, enjoy arts and crafts, health checks and find out more about services and support available in your local area.

We hope you can join us at one of these events and take part in the celebrations, connect with your community, and discover the support available to help make later life fulfilling.
