Dementia Pop Up Hubs offer a "one-stop shop" of information, advice, support and services for people people living with dementia, their carers, family and friends

• Seven local organisations have set up a Dementia pop up hub pilot to run throughout July – October 2018 across five sites around Sutton
• The initiative was a recommendation from a 2017 Healthwatch Sutton report that looked into the experience of those living with dementia and their carers
• If successful the pilot will look to be extended beyond October 2018

Healthwatch Sutton, Age UK Sutton, Citizens Advice Sutton, Sutton Carers Centre, Alzheimers Society, Riverside Community Association Ltd and Admiral Nurses (Specialist Dementia Nurse’s) have launched dementia pop up hubs which will seek to help local residents who are living with dementia or would like to find out more about the condition.

The hubs will provide an open and accessible space for local people to come and meet other people. Representatives from several organisations will be available at each pop up to provide information and advice. There will also be presentations at midday at each site on dementia related themes such as power of attorney.

The idea for the project came from a recommendation from the Healthwatch Sutton report ‘Exploring the experience of people with dementia and those who care for them in 2017 which found there was not enough support for those living with dementia and a dementia hub in Sutton would address a lot of the issues identified.

The hubs will run on the following days and locations from 11AM to 2PM:

Sutton Carers Centre– MONDAY 23 JULY
Benhill house, 12-14 Benhill Avenue, Sutton SM1 4DA

Victoria Row, Operations Director at Age UK Sutton said:

“Age UK Sutton have been offering services and support to Sutton's older people, their families and friends for over 25 years. We know how important it is for people living with dementia, and their carers, to have access to services and support during this journey. We are so pleased to be a part of these Dementia Pop-Ups Hubs, offering information, advice, activities and practical help, among other services for people with a dementia diagnosis."

Age UK Sutton CEO Nicola Upton commented:

"It is Age UK Sutton's mission to work with partners and the community to make Sutton a more age-friendly place. One of the things this means to us is that people have easy access to services and support at critical points in their life - such as when a dementia diagnosis is made.

We are really proud to work in partnership with a number of excellent local organisations to deliver the Dementia Pop-Up Hubs pilot, offering a 'one-stop shop' for people living with dementia, and those caring for them."
