On Friday 29th September 2023, Angela Rayner, Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, paid a visit to our Centre at 131 Katherine Street, for an ‘Ask Angela’ Q & A Session with our customers and clients to talk about local issues that matter to them.

Angela answered questions about, the changing high street, banking facilities, digital inclusion, safer streets, the cost of living crisis and funding for the local voluntary services.

Our customers and clients really enjoyed meeting Angela, they felt the Q & A session was very positive and informative.

Many Thanks to Angela and her fantastic team for taking time out to spend time with the older people of Tameside .

Marcia Thorpe, Chief Executive Officer at Age UK Tameside, said: “We recently welcomed Angela Rayner MP, to our Centre in Tameside. Angela is Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, and was happy to discuss a variety of issues affecting older people in our community and create a space for older people’s voices to be heard.”

Angela Rayner MP said: “It was fantastic to visit Age UK Tameside and chat to the 131 Club who kept me busy with some brilliant questions, but only after they had treated me to a warm brew. Age UK Tameside has some incredibly valuable groups and services for my older and more vulnerable constituents. The staff and volunteers work so hard to make sure those in their care are well looked after.”
