Bringing in the Year of the Rabbit in style!

This weekend marks the Chinese New Year 2023. To celebrate, we've been welcoming in the year of the Rabbit with food, decorations and music all week long at our day centre. Check out the pictures below to see what our staff and service users have got up to!

Celebrating the Rabbit – a symbol of longevity, peace and prosperity in Chinese culture.
Linda, Team Leader, and Frank, Deputy Manager, have been making paper lanterns with Day Centre clients to decorate our dining room and reception. Easy and fun crafts like this are great activities to stimulate hand-eye coordination and creativity for older people and people with dementia.
Food is always a favourite part of celebrations at the Day Centre, so our creative catering team served up a fantastic array of Chinese dishes this week. It’s really important to us that our menu is varied, nutritious, and offers clients a chance to try new foods. Lunch was a chicken Chow Mein stir fry served with rice or noodles, served with a selection of vegetable dumplings and sweet honeyed apples for dessert.
Finally, our Chinese dragons look beautiful hung up around the dining room. We used toilet roll tubes, pom poms and lots of scraps from other projects to make them, and the different textures were great sensory tools for engaging people with dementia.
