Wandsworth Civic Awards

Published on 24 November 2022 09:19 AM

Age UK Wandsworth wishes to congratulate our community member Iori Harries on winning a Wandsworth Civic Award! The annual awards ceremony is held at the Civic Suite and hosted by the Mayor of Wandsworth. Awards are given to recognise the contributions that people are making to the Wandsworth community.

Iori received one of these awards for his tremendous efforts to helping older people in the community. He is a founding member of the Roehampton Community Shed, which is a weekly group where people over 60 meet up and work on practical projects, such as furniture upcycling. The Shed has played a pivotal role in supporting older people, helping to combat loneliness and social isolation. Iori is also part of the Roehampton Community Network and helps to run projects around the area.

Everyone here at Age UK Wandsworth would once again like to congratulate Iori on his award and thank him for his commitment to helping older people in the community.

If you’re interested in joining the Roehampton Community Shed, either drop-in on a Wednesday or contact Anthony on 020 8877 8940 on anthony.simmons@ageukwandsworth.org.uk.

The Shed has two venues, one in Minstead Gardens and Portswood Place, Roehampton, SW15 4ED. It’s open on Wednesdays from 11am to 3pm.
