Volunteering that suits you

Everyone has their own reason for wanting to donate their time. Sometimes it is because we have supported a family member and you want to 'give something back'. You may have a general interest in our work or want to do something positive to support your community. You may have specialist skills you are happy to share, or you may be hoping to gain valuable experience, new skills and insight as you embark on a career in health or social care.

Whatever your motivation, you'll be part of a friendly team, you'll make a difference and have fun at the same time.

What's in it for you?

Giving up time to help someone in greater need is both rewarding and inspiring.

It can help you gain experience and improve your CV; it will enable you to meet new people and be part of a friendly team; it will allow you to hone existing skills through training and support from Age UK Wiltshire.

Our roles are flexible. Some people want the stability of volunteering on regular basis. Others want the flexibility to work around their work and other commitments. You give can give as little as one hour a week or you can 'mix and match' and volunteer in more than one role with us.

We also reimburse travelling and reasonable out-of-pocket expenses.

How we will help you

When you contact us about volunteering, we'll send you our Volunteer Information Pack that provides an introduction to the charity and what volunteers can expect from us.  When you take up your volunteering role, we'll also provide you with a Welcome Pack that contains more detail about the 'nuts & bolts' of volunteering with Age UK Wiltshire, like how to claim travel expenses and information about health and safety and insurance.

Alongside this, each specific role also has its own specific training and shadowing opportunities for prospective volunteers to understand more about the role and what is involved.

We also have opportunities for volunteers to expand their skills with training events throughout the year, depending on the roles undertaken and the availability of these events. At all times you are encouraged to ask us for any training or skills you feel you need to undertake your voluntary role.
