Our volunteers are at the heart of our organisation. This Volunteers Week we want to celebrate why our volunteers love helping the older Camden community - thank you we appreciated you all!
Our volunteer Tricia tells us more about her role as a volunteer within the community:
☎️ ... I really enjoy chatting to people; so when Age UK Camden set up the Telefriends Programme, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to volunteer and help someone who felt isolated...
That was 3years ago and our 'telfriendship' is still going strong!
My 'friend ' and I chat about all sorts of things for an hour, every Tuesday morning. It is very rewarding to know that our chats have really helped to build her self confidence, provided support through some tough times, and brought genuine laughter on a weekly basis.
Should I need help at anytime, there is always friendly advice and guidance available from the Camden team. And my [6 weekly] feedback is always appreciated by the Telefriends Coordinators.
So, if you're someone like me, who loves to chat... do give it a go.
It is truly worth it! ☎️
