Age UK Cheshire have been delivering services to older people in Cheshire for over 40 years, we are a name you can trust, and we want to help you to act now and age better.
Our Independent Living Service was established to help you remain at home, with the right support, for as long as you wish. We offer fully impartial and independent information, advice and support to anyone living in Cheshire West and Chester, who can fund their care privately.

Our team operates Monday to Friday and aims to help you to feel empowered and supported to make the right decisions for yourself. We have a dedicated team that are caring, knowledgeable and effective in the support they offer and have a range of options of support for you to consider.
We offer this service via phone, email and letter to keep things as accessible and simple for you as possible.

Eligibility & Referral

To be eligible for support from our service you will need to:
- Be in a position to fund your own care and support – this would be indicated as having savings over £23,500
- Have a clear idea of what support you will need – we will help, guide and suggest but we are not an assessment service
- Have access to an email account – payment for our service is required in advance and the invoice will be issued to a named email for payment. Once payment had been made we will contact you within 5 days to commence your service
- Be contactable by phone or email - due to the size of our team and the efficiency of the service we are unable to offer home visiting at this time
- Be the person requiring support or if you are contacting on behalf of another person we will need their consent or proof of authority to act on their behalf

Care support through Cheshire West Council

Age UK Cheshire work with Cheshire West Council to provide support to self-funders at this time. We know that sometimes a change in needs and circumstances can occur following a stay in hospital or an assessment from social services, our service supports all self-funders at this time and if your referral is via Adult Social Care we will support. To qualify for this part of the service, currently a free service, a referral will need to be made from Social Services to the team.
Not everyone is in a position to pay privately for their care, if you have savings of less than £23,500 you would not be classed as self-funding and would be entitled to support from adult social care.
