Could you give a warm welcome to our guests and their carers, supporting our trained staff with associated tasks?

We have a great role available for a dynamic, patient and caring volunteer to support those attending our Sycamore Days, day care group for those living with a mild to moderate cognitive impairment/dementia.

Volunteer Role: Sycamore Days, Day Care Support Volunteer

Service:

Providing respite day care service, supporting people 50+ living with mild to moderate cognitive impairment/ dementia.

Location:

Sycamores Centre, Mount Pleasant, Exeter, EX4 7AE

Day & Time:

Monday, Tuesday & Friday – times to be arranged with service coordinator

Main Tasks:

·To give a warm welcome

·To engage with people in the group and build a rapport.

·Join in with our person-based activities.

·Support staff with tasks.

·To help serve refreshments.

·To help set up and clear away.

What we need from you:

·An understanding of (or willingness to learn about) dementia and its effect on people living with the condition.

·To have good speaking and listening skills.

·To be friendly and have a sense of humour.

·Have patience and empathy.

·Confidence in engaging in conversation with people.

·An open mind and able to see people as individuals.
