Let's Talk: Finding and Affording Help at Home

Finding Help at Home and Staying Independent

As we get older, or if we're living with a health condition or disability, everyday tasks at home can become more challenging. You might find it harder to keep up with cleaning, gardening, shopping, cooking, dressing, washing, or carrying out small jobs around the house.

The good news is that there is a wide range of support available to help you stay safe, independent and living well at home. There may also be financial help available to pay for some of these services.

In this 20-minute video, a member of the Age UK Islington team provides a clear and straightforward introduction to the support available locally.

  • How the Islington Council Handyperson Scheme can help with small repair and maintenance jobs in your home.

  • How Attendance Allowance and other benefits may help towards the cost of support.

  • How to check whether you're receiving all the benefits you're entitled to.
