We are seeking a reliable and Proactive Caretaker to join our team. This role is key to ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of 3 our premises, maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for staff, visitors.

For this job role, you must have your own vehicle with the ability to gain business insurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs across the sites
  • Conduct regular health and safety checks, including fire alarm tests, acting as lead fire marshal
  • Open and close the premises as required (including key holding duties)
  • Oversee site security, including unlocking/locking buildings and monitoring CCTV if applicable
  • Monitor heating, lighting, and alarm systems to ensure effective operation
  • Liaise with contractors and service providers when necessary
  • Maintain the cleanliness of external areas and assist with internal cleaning as needed
  • Support with setting up rooms for events or meetings
  • Undertake ground maintenance and gardening duties, which will involve weeding, lawn cutting, including trimming of trees and shrubs
  • The clearing of gullies, drainage pipes, and guttering
  • Dispose of waste materials safely and hygienically, following relevant guidelines
  • Perform minor repairs, basic plumbing, painting, and general DIY tasks
  • Undertake regular PAT Testing
  • Provide cover for the cleaning staff in their absence

Key Skills & Person Specification:

  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Reliable, flexible, and trustworthy
  • Awareness of health and safety practices
  • Good practical skills in maintenance and repair (e.g. plumbing, decorating, general DIY)
  • Knowledge of safe waste disposal practices and hygiene standards
  • Understanding of building health and safety requirements
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and capable of working on own initiative
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Able to undertake physical work, including lifting, carrying, and general manual tasks.

A DBS check may be required for this position.

Hours : 37.5 hours over 5 days, flexibility with start & end times

Salary: £24,800 per annum  

Contract: Permanent
