About the role

As Deputy Head of Retail, you will work closely with the Head of Retail to lead and manage our charity shops. You’ll support the development and execution of retail strategies, drive income and growth, ensuring an exceptional experience for customers, volunteers, and staff alike.

This is a dynamic and varied role, combining strategic thinking with hands-on operational support. You’ll lead on key projects, manage performance, and act as a key point of contact for retail managers across our charity.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Retail in delivering the overall retail strategy and business plan
  • Support Managers and Deputy Managers to meet income and targets
  • Oversee the implementation of retail standards and ensure shops maintain high levels of presentation and compliance
  • Drive innovation in visual merchandising, stock generation, and community engagement
  • Lead on specific projects such as retail campaigns, promotions, relocation of premises, and setting up new shops
  • Develop and mentor shop staff and volunteers to ensure high performance and engagement
  • Monitor and analyse sales data to identify opportunities for growth and improvement
  • Act as an ambassador for the charity, ensuring our values are embedded across the retail team
  • Ability to travel using your own vehicle gaining business insurance

About you

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Proven experience in multi-site retail management, ideally in the charity sector
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
  • Excellent commercial acumen and a track record of delivering sales growth
  • Experience managing budgets and analysing financial data
  • A collaborative, can-do attitude with the ability to inspire and motivate
  • Commitment to the values and mission of Age UK Leicestershire & Rutland

Hours : 30 hours over  4 full days with flexibility over 6 days on a rota.

Salary: Competitive
