A safe place for over 50s to enjoy personal hobbies and community projects, a sense of purpose, achievement, and social interaction.
Our Charnwood Men and Women in Sheds is just a larger version of the typical garden shed, furnished with work benches and equipment for making, mending and restoring. Reclaimed wood and practical skills, either newly learnt or from younger years, are put to good use to make items for nature, the home or just for fun!
Whichever activities are pursued, the essence of a Shed is not the building but the network of relationships between the members, the opportunity to connect and to share life's ups and downs with others.
It is here that friendships are made and problems are shared. Whether learning a new skill or re-engaging with an old hobby, the Shed offers a unique opportunity to create new objects and make new friends.

Whether you have a background in wood or metal work, or you have never picked up a tool in your life, everyone aged 50 and over is welcome at the Shed. Our Shed is a place where people come together to share tools, skills and life experience, make new friends, and indulge their creative side in a relaxed and supportive environment.
You can put your hand to a project of your choosing, big or small. Use a drill for the first time, try your hand on the pottery wheel, or help to make a wheelchair-friendly picnic bench. Whatever your skill level, it’s not just about the woodwork, it’s an opportunity to get out of the house, enjoy good company, and build meaningful connections.
Monday 9am – 3:30pm
Tuesday 9am – 3:30pm
Wednesday 9am – 3:30pm
An annual membership fee applies. These contributions help us to keep the Sheds open and running alongside the support we receive from the local council, corporates and other funders. The use of tools and materials at the Sheds is then free to all members.
