My North Tyneside

Published on 23 February 2024 11:56 AM

Do you want to be part of history by sharing your memories and experiences of our brilliant borough? My North Tyneside is a Lottery Heritage-funded project from Write on the Tyne, collecting intergenerational stories about our area. They will be displayed in late 2024 and archived, on record forever.

Be part of history and share your memories, experiences, and pride in our borough. My North Tyneside aims to document everything that is brilliant about our area and the people who live here. Whether you have lived here all your life, or only just moved here, Write on the Tyne want your stories. You may have memories of a place, your community, technology, industry, culture, and family. Or you may want to share something about the here and now. Whatever it is, Write on the Tyne would love your poems and stories about North Tyneside.

Write on the Tyne will be running several workshops about the project and to share ideas, including the following workshops at Age UK North Tyneside:

  • Thursday 13th June, 9.30am to 1pm
  • Thursday 11th July, 9.30am to 1pm
  • Thursday 8th August, 9.30 to 1pm

You can also submit pieces directly to info@writeonthetyne.com.

From October, all the submitted pieces will go 'on tour' across the borough, visiting libraries, places of cultural significance, schools, and supported accommodation schemes for all to see, read, and learn from. At the end of the tour, the pieces will be saved on Write on the Tyne's website, archived as a part of history forever.

Let's celebrate our borough and share our heritage!
