Age UK Northumberland Partnership with Koast Radio

AGE UK NORTHUMBERLAND AND KOAST RADIO ANNOUNCE NEW SHOWS TO ENTERTAIN, ADVISE AND SUPPORT OUR OVER 60S ACROSS THE COUNTY STARTING TUESDAY 4 AUGUST 2020

Age UK Northumberland is delighted to announce the launch of a new partnership with South East Northumberland-based radio station Koast Radio.

The collaboration with bring four new shows to the Koast Radio schedule, aimed at supporting and entertaining our over 60s with music, nostalgia, health and wellbeing advice, news and views, hobbies and interests, phone-ins and requests.

Listeners in South East Northumberland can tune in to 106.6FM and all shows are streamed live on the Koast Radio website, meaning that people across the county can enjoy the shows from Tuesday 4 August.

EVERY 
Tuesday 6pm till 7pm
Wednesday 10am till 11am
Friday 9pm - 10pm
Sunday 3pm till 4pm

Amy Whyte, Head of Charitable Services for Age UK Northumberland said:

“We are delighted to launch this brand new partnership at a time when our older generation are most in need of companionship, advice, support and most importantly, some great entertainment.

Working together with Koast Radio, we will be able to reach a wider audience, spread the word about the independent and free services that we provide and engage on a new level with our over 60s. This is a really exciting time and we are very grateful to the Community Foundation Tyne and Wear and Northumberland and Koast Radio for supporting this project.”

Koast Radio has been operating since 2010 and is the only community radio station within South East Northumberland with an FM broadcasting licence from OFCOM. They have a mixed and varied broadcast schedule with live shows daily from 7am in the morning up to Midnight, 7 days a week on 106.6 MHz on the FM waveband across South East Northumberland.

Koast Radio also simultaneously streams its broadcasts online making them available anywhere through applications such as Tune In app and on the Koast Radio website.

Regular scheduling includes general and specialist music programmes, business & community shows, local sports, programmes showcasing local talent and the team also stream live outside broadcasts from within the community, supporting local events, businesses and community groups.

We’ve got some fantastic shows planned and we’d really love to hear from our listeners, whether there’s song you’d like to hear, an answer to a question or you’d like to tell us you’re story, we’d love to hear about it.”

 “We understand our responsibilities within the community of South-East Northumberland, the partnership with Northumberland Age UK gives us an opportunity to design some age-specific programming. We have over 40 volunteers with a real passion for the radio station and I am sure the partnership will be a success.”
