Bargain Hunters

Published on 02 January 2022 08:00 AM

This festive season, we’re bringing you 12 stories of Christmas. These stories tell of the miraculous things that the Age UK Notts staff, volunteers, funders, and you have done to support older people across Notts & Nottinghamshire this year.

Story 10: Bargain Hunters

Are you thinking of hitting the January sales? You can find bargains in our charity shops and on our eBay store all year round. We reckon nothing beats having a rummage through the racks and finding a real gem.

Our West Bridgford shop was closed during the lockdown but it didn’t stop Mr Jones* from spotting a 1958 edition of The Eagle Annual in the shop window. He called up and reserved the item and had a chat with Tony (who looked after the donations during the lockdown, amongst other things). The 1958 edition was of particular interest to Mr Jones because it almost completed his collection of old annuals. See – charity shops can make all sorts of dreams come true!
