Day Ten - 12 Stories of Christmas - ‘Valuing Volunteers’

We remain ever grateful for the commitment and dedication of our volunteers, old and new, who make such a difference to the lives of local older people and who do so much to support the work of our charity.  Every year, our volunteers donate around 52,000 hours of time to support local older people.

Volunteers give their time for free but it would have been worth around £480,000 had it been paid at National Minimum Wage rates.  What an amazing gift to local people.

“I started volunteering in the pandemic and it gave me a sense of purpose every day as I was helping someone else.  I have talked to people from all walks of life which has been really interesting and its helped me to gain a perspective on life.”

Thank you to everyone who gave of their time and energy – you are the heart of our charity and we are deeply grateful.
