Day 3 – Warmer & Wiser
Our Warm & Wise service helped more than 600 households become more energy-efficient, save money on bills, and stay safe at home. From fitting draught excluders and energy-saving lightbulbs to installing thermostatic radiator valves and reflector panels, we worked hard to make homes warmer and more comfortable.
We also registered vulnerable people on the Priority Services Register, ensuring utility companies know who needs extra support during power cuts or emergencies.
Here’s one story that shows the difference this service makes:
A couple in their 80s, both living with dementia, were supported by a family member in their bungalow. After a recent serious incident, they discovered their smoke alarm wasn’t working properly. There were other issues too—draughts from faulty windows, dim lighting, and no carbon monoxide detector.
Our energy advisor acted immediately. Within three days, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service carried out a Safe and Well visit and fitted two new smoke alarms. Our advisor installed LED lightbulbs, radiator foils, insulation tape for the windows, and a carbon monoxide detector in the kitchen. They also referred the family for a full benefits check through our Advice Team.
The result? A home that was warmer, safer, and financially better off—and a family who felt supported when they needed it most.
