About the campaign
We are thrilled to announce the return of our annual Christmas campaign - our biggest fundraiser of the year. Every Christmas, our community comes together to help us provide hot festive meals, companionship and joyful Christmas parties for older people across Plymouth.
At a time when most of us are celebrating with loved ones, many in our community feel more isolated than ever. With winter’s rising costs and Plymouth being one of the most deprived areas in the country, this season can be especially challenging for those already struggling on a day to day basis.
Over the years, the generosity of the people of Plymouth have made a real difference. With your support, we’ve delivered hot Christmas meals and food parcels across the city to those who might otherwise spend the holiday alone, hosted parties at our Mount Gould centre, and brought festive cheer to countless older people. This year, we’re continuing the same mission: to make sure no older person in Plymouth feels lonely this Christmas.
How your support will help:
This Christmas, we will be:
- Delivering hot, festive meals and food parcels to older people across Plymouth who might otherwise be spending Christmas alone.
- Hosting a special Christmas party with a hot meal at our Mount Gould centre - bringing people together an afternoon of friendship and festivities.
Making a local difference
Your donations stay in Plymouth, supporting those who need it most. With rising living costs and the challenges many face during winter, your contributions can bring happiness, warmth and human connection back into someone's Christmas.
Alan's story
Alan, 82, has always been at the heart of his community. For decades, he volunteered at his church and helped organise neighbourhood events, especially around the holidays. Christmas used to be an incredibly busy time for Alan. But over the past few years, Alan’s health has declined, and he has had to give up much of the volunteering and social activities that once kept him active and connection.
His children live in different parts of the country, and last Christmas, he spent the holiday quietly alone in his flat. The house felt cold and empty, and what should have been a joyful time became a reminder of how isolated he’d become.
Last year, thanks to our Christmas Campaign, Alan was invited to a festive afternoon at our Mount Gould centre. He joined others for a warm meal, music and companionship. “It reminded me that I’m still part of the community.” he said.
Help us make Christmas brighter
As we announce our annual campaign once again, we invite you to be part of this special tradition for our local charity.
Together, we can ensure that older people in Plymouth feel loved, remembered and part the celebration this festive season.
