Get Online Week 2023

Published on 09 October 2023 12:38 PM

Age UK Salford is supporting Get Online Week which runs from 16th October to 20th October.

On Monday 16th October, there is a drop-in event at Critchley Community Hub in Swinton for those interested getting help to use the internet and finding out how they can become more tech savvy.

2.7 million older adults in the UK don’t use the internet and as everyday life activities such as booking a GP appointment, banking, managing your utility bills move online – not having access to the internet is a real barrier to those who aren’t using it.

This week is a good opportunity for those interested to get a taster of life online.

Watch the Age UK video to find out how older people use technology and how it has benefited them.

Locally, Age Friendly Salford (AFS) run Tech and Tea courses across the city to provide an introduction to tech. Bernard attended one of the courses last year and it opened up many new experiences for him and he was also received a Volunteer and Local Hero Award. You can read Bernard’s story here on the AFS website.

More information about the course and dates is available on the Age Friendly Salford website.
