Campaigns
Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin campaigns on local issues affecting the quality of later life.
We ensure the voices of older people are heard by campaigning locally for older people and supporting nationwide campaigns.
Digital inclusion
Public services are rapidly going digital. If like 2.3 million older people in the UK you aren't an internet user, it’s becoming harder, and in some cases impossible, to access day-to-day necessities such as banking, making NHS appointments or even just paying for car parking.
Help us make access to public services fair for everyone, and sign the petition on the Age UK website.
If you would like support to access local services that have moved to digital, our Digital inclusion team and their volunteers are available to help. Find out how our Digital inclusion team can help.
Blue Badge Scheme
The Blue Badge Scheme allows those people with a permanent and substantial disability who have very considerable difficulty in walking, to park in specially allocated parking spaces close to shops.
However, to apply for a Blue Badge, people are often told to claim online and there is a distinct lack of offline options. The application process can also require a lot of medical evidence, which can be a challenge to obtain. These barriers can disempower people and prevent them from applying for something that they may be entitled to.
Our advocacy team is discussing the issue with the Council and Members of Parliament in the county and we would like to hear from anyone who has experienced difficulty.
