Why volunteer?

Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills, and be part of a great team who support older people throughout Tameside. Whether it be hands on with our clients, supporting our administration work or even lending a hand in our kitchen - we really do have something for everyone.

Who can volunteer?

Anyone over the age of 18 can apply to volunteer with us. We have a range of different roles which suit different skill sets. Our Centre is located in the heart of Ashton-under-Lyne, and being able to travel here is essential. Some volunteer roles may also require travel throughout Tameside to other locations, such as community venues or client homes.

How much time do I need to give?

Anything from a couple of hours to a couple of days each week. Volunteering can fit into almost any lifestyle and schedule. All we ask for is commitment to volunteer long-term, not just for a few weeks or months, punctuality and reliability.

Other ways to get involved

  • Take part in a fundraiser

Could you help us to raise vital funds by taking part in a fundraising event? We have regular events such as sponsored walks, but you could also do your own fundraiser like a cake sale.

  • Get colleagues involved

Could you talk to your colleagues or your employer about how you can support us? We have lots of ideas for how organisations can get involved, including sponsoring an event, making us Charity of the Year, or donating equipment.

  • Become a trustee

Trustees contribute their skills and experience and are actively involved in our charitable work in relation to fundraising, business development, and public relations.
