Prime Minister visits Platt Bridge Community Centre

A special moment for our community, and a chance to put PingPongParkinson™ in the spotlight!

Age UK Wigan Borough 's Engagement Officer, Steve Rowe, met with the Prime Minister Andy Burnham during his visit to Platt Bridge Community Centre Wigan to talk about something that makes a real difference: PingPongParkinson. Steve shared how these sessions bring people together through table tennis, creating opportunities for movement, social connection and fun for people living with Parkinson’s. But his ambition goes even further. Steve wants to help more communities access PingPongParkinson, supported by Parkinson's UK, so more people can experience the benefits of getting involved.

He also took the opportunity to highlight the wider work of Age UK and Age UK Wigan Borough, supporting people aged 50 and over to live independently, stay connected and make the most of life. Because table tennis is about more than hitting a ball across a table. It’s about people, connection and the difference a local community can make.

A big thank you to Platt Bridge Community Centre for hosting the visit and giving Steve the opportunity to shine a light on this fantastic work.
