37 hours per week (FTE) - lower hours maybe considered.
£27,705.60 per annum + benefits
Age Uk Birmingham is the Lead Facilitator for the Edgbaston Neighbourhood Network Scheme. A scheme that is funded by Birmingham City Council
Do you care about communities having locally accessible activities and support that helps them feel connected and less isolated ? We’re looking for a Community Development Worker who will support local community groups to continue their work and reduce social isolation for citizens over 50 and those citizens 18-49 living with additional needs.
This is a people-focused, varied role combining community engagement, project coordination, stakeholder relationship-building and communications.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting the delivery of the Neighbourhood Network Scheme in Edgbaston by linking older people and younger adults (18–49) with additional needs to services and opportunities.
- The role will involve gathering information about community assets, building partnerships, delivering network events and capacity-building activities, and evaluating impact.
- Working closely with stakeholders, the Community Development Worker will help ensure stronger communities, and better outcomes for local citizens.

- Experience of working within community development, social work or a health- related field
- Experience of working in partnerships and building stakeholder relationships
- Experience of working with underserved communities, voluntary sector or charities
- An understanding of issues affecting older people and younger adults with additional needs
- Understanding and commitment to equality and diversity.
